Springfield Police have now confirmed that a man has died after being shot in the back on Westminster Street Thursday afternoon.
A police spokesman says that 32 year old Donte King and 27 year old Aaron Kelly-Griffin were arrested on charges that included attempted armed robbery.
They are being held pending arraignment.
Police haven't offered details of the murder, which is the city's 7th.
Police have only said that they were alerted by a Shot Spotter Call after 4 yesterday afternoon.
