Springfield Ready For Needle Exchange Program

It appears Springfield will officially tell the state that it is embarking on a needle exchange program.

The health board voted several months ago that it was taking the action as a way to combat the spread of aids and other diseases.

City Health Commissioner Helen Caulton Harris says that they aren't purposely dragging their feet on the issue ---they just want to make sure everything is in order.

Meantime, state officials say they are willing to green light funding for a Springfield Program as soon as they get the paperwork.
