State Provides Millions For Cleanup

Holyoke and Chicopee are benefiting  from a new, one-and-a-half-million-dollar grant to improve water quality  in the Connecticut River watershed.

Governor Charlie Baker's  administration awarded the grant to the Connecticut River  Clean-up Committee to provide assistance to the three cities as they  implement plans to reduce sewer overflows and wastewater discharges.

The committee has been active for more than 20 years and has now  received a total of four-and-a-half-million from the state for its  cleanup efforts.
