Springfield Mayor Vetoes Tax Incentive Measure

Springfield  Mayor Domenic Sarno is issuing a veto to a new ordinance focusing on  property tax incentives for businesses.

To be eligible for tax breaks,  the rule change indicates businesses cannot use contractors or  subcontractors which have been banned from performing construction work  or have violated any wage laws in the last five years.

Council President  Orlando Ramos, says he will  schedule a veto  override and says it's straightforward legislation.

Sarno says he was  advised by the city solicitor that the ordinance exposes the city to  liability.
