A Westfield man is facing charges for allegedly beating his infant child.
Authorities say the eight-month-old daughter of Daniel Torres was slapped so hard that she stopped breathing and is now on life support.
Torres was arraigned in Westfield District Court on assault and reckless endangerment charges on Monday and is being held on one-million-dollars bail.
He reportedly told police he slapped her while playing with her on the floor in a fit of frustration, but that he didn't mean to hurt her.
Torres will be back in court August 28th.
