City, state and federal officials say public safety plans are in place for opening day at MGM Springfield.
There will be road and highway ramp closures.
Police Commissioner John Barbieri says there will be increased police visibility around the casino and elsewhere as well.
State Police will also be involved.
Officials say they will have a presence inside the structure assisting the MGM security force. And, they will also be patrolling outside including the highways.
MGM Springfield President Mike Mathis says that he sees the massive security effort as a partnership between all the men and women in blue.
MGM Springfield opens its doors on Friday, August 24th.
