The Springfield Police Department is out with a warning to homeowners and realtors of a scam that targets homes for sale.
Two arrests were made earlier this week involving people who allegedly attempted to rent a home that was not theirs.
Police say scammers are taking pictures from primary sites like Zillow and reposting them on secondary sites such as Craigslist and listing the property for rent as their own.
Anyone who has noticed they have a home they are selling or renting that is receiving suspicious inquiries, had the locks changed or has a property listed for sale on a non-approved site is being urged to notify the authorities.
