A portion of the Hampden County Jail in Ludlow is on lockdown.
Authorities say an anonymous tip was called in about a contraband that was snuck into the residential unit.
The unit has been on lockdown for the past several days as security teams and K-9s sweep the area.
Inmates are being kept in their cells for the majority of the day.
It's unclear what type of contraband is being searched for.
Officials aren't saying how long the lock down will go on for.
