State Senator Eric Lesser says state lawmakers are looking at ways to help keep local rail car manufacturer
CRRC competitive in the face of new tariffs on Chinese imports from the Trump administration.
Lesser discussed the impact of the tariffs at Western New England University on Wednesday.
Lesser said he hopes the Trump administration does the right thing and grants the exemption request that has been filed by CRRC.
One thing he says he doesn't see happening is the state offering the company tax breaks to offset the tariffs.
The issue is expected to be debated early next year.
