French Man Suspected Of Christmas Market Shooting Killed By Police

Cherif Chekatt, 29

The suspect in a shooting at a historic Christmas Market in Strasbourg, France has been killed by police. 29-year-old Cherif Chekatt had been the subject of a massive two-day manhunt after he killed three people and injured 13 others in what French authorities have called a terrorist attack

Hundreds of officers were deployed across the country to find Chekatt, who was on a French watchlist and has a lengthy criminal history that dates back 16 years. Earlier on Thursday, officials said they were wanted to find him dead or alive.

Authorities evacuated and cordoned off buildings in an area of the city where he was believed to have been hiding. They found him in a warehouse and killed him. It is unclear if he shot at the police before they opened fire.
