Suspect In Three State Manhunt Captured

Hartford  Police say a tip led to the arrest of a man who allegedly stabbed a  woman over 30 times on New Year's Day.

Edgar Maldonado was arrested  early yesterday morning in New York City.

Police say a tip was received  from a cooperating witness that Maldonado was at a restaurant in  Manhattan, and he was quickly taken into custody.

Police say after the  stabbing, Maldonado drove to Massachusetts and abandoned the woman's  six-year-old child.

The child is in the custody of Massachusetts officials while the investigation is continuing.

Hartford Police say they believe that the initial argument between Maldonado and his 43 year old girlfriend started over jealousy.
