Officials are working to fill the four seats on the Longmeadow School Committee after more than half the board resigned last week.
The remaining three members of the committee and the Longmeadow Select Board decided at a meeting last night that they will make a short-term, temporary appointment of a fourth member to the committee on Thursday night.
Currently, the three members cannot make legal decisions for the school system.
The four members who resigned did so after a recall mechanism was approved in a town meeting, seemingly aimed at the school board members who voted not to renew the contract of the school district's superintendent.
Officials say having three members on the School Board now is a real issue since bills cannot be approved.
That should be taken care of with the meeting Thursday.
