Two Plead Not Guilty As Police Promise More Arrests

Two suspects are pleading not guilty to drug distribution charges. Alissa Nowak of Bellingham and Hermant Shani of Springfield were arraigned in District Court and released on personal recognizance pending a March hearing.

They were arrested Friday night at the Mardi Gras strip club after they allegedly sold marijuana to undercover detectives during an illegal marijuana vendor party.

The arrests were made on the third floor of the building. Officials say the owners had no access to the third floor. The Springfield Mayor says that doesn't make any difference to him.

He says that he will address the issue with both the Hampden County District Attorney and the State Attorney General over possible future sanctions for the club.

No word on when potential hearings will be scheduled.
