Supporters of the Massachusetts film tax credit program want lawmakers to make it permanent. The program is currently set to expire in January 2023, and more than 100 state lawmakers have signed a bill to eliminate the sunset clause. Advocates are concerned that the deadline could hurt the state's ability to attract television shows to film in the state long term. The program has its detractors, as some say the benefits are not worth the cost to the state. The State has played host to several hit movies over the last couple of years.
