Springfield Man Freed On Rape Charges--Faces Additional Charges

A Springfield man who was freed from prison after serving three decades for a rape he said he didn't commit is now being charged in a new rape case.

Police in Lawrence say George Perrot raped an unconscious woman on a sidewalk in the city earlier this year.

Perrot was released from prison in 2016 after the state Supreme Judicial Court ruled his conviction came from faulty forensic analysis.

The case was from 1985, when he was accused of raping a 78-year-old Springfield woman.
