Budget Debate Begins In Springfield

The Springfield Mayor is out with his budget for the next fiscal year.

The Mayor says next year’s proposal is for 692 million dollars.

It is up 5 point 4 percent. He says it keeps all core services and does not use any rainy day account monies.

The entire city budget takes into consideration almost 445 million dollars in school department spending.

The city council has hearings set for next month and then will proceed to trying to pass the spending plan.
