Doctor's Inspiration Falls

A tree thought to have inspired Springfield native Dr. Seuss' children's book The Lorax fell last week.

It was a Monterey Cypress tree in La Jolla, California that went down last week.

Officials haven't given a reason for why this happened.

Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Geisel, lived in La Jolla from 1948 until he died in 1991.
