Enfield Man Nabbed After Crash In Murder Victim's Car

Police have located a relative of an elderly Enfield woman who was beaten to death in her home who is a suspect in her killing. Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox says Anthony Ward wrote a letter that led to officers doing a welfare check on Frances Battagler's home.

The 79-year-old was found dead Tuesday night.

Police arrested 35-year-old Anthony Ward after he reportedly crashed the car owned by his murdered relative in Wethersfield.

Ward was hospitalized with injuries sustained in the car crash, and has not been charged in the killing at this time.
