Audit Says Some People Miss Out On WIC Benefits

A new report from the state auditor examines how people are accessing WIC benefits in Massachusetts.

The audit lists recommendations for the state Department of Public Health based on findings about language barriers, ineffective information about WIC eligibility, and a website that has incomplete info about WIC locations.

The audit also finds that parents and children in some parts of central and western Massachusetts may have a hard time getting to WIC sites because of inconvenient public transit.

Some WIC providers have requested and received permission from the DPH to set up temporary service centers.
