Thousands Of Gallons Of Sewage Dumped In River

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is notifying the public about a sewage discharge that happened on Monday.

The commission says an equipment malfunction reported by the operator of the York Street pump station resulted in the release of about 90-thousand gallons of untreated wastewater into the Connecticut River.

A release of about 284-thousand gallons of sewage into the Connecticut was reported last month in South Hadley.
