City Council Approves Pot Plan For Eastfield Mall

The Springfield City Council had one marijuana item on the agenda on Monday, and another was pulled.

The council changed a zoning ordinance to allow cannabis cultivation at the Eastfield Mall.

Cannaworld-Cannamundo is proposing a retail store and cultivation and manufacture site at the former Macy's store.

Attorney Mary Hurley who represents the Mall says that they are in negotiations with a developer that will develop a residential retail complex, somewhat like the Blueback Square Project in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Hurley would not speculate on additional announcements.

Meantime. the City Council pulled a proposed marijuana sale agreement with Insa, a company the council did not approve for a pot shop earlier this year, without taking a vote.

Insa had been recommended for approval for the pot shop from a panel led by Mayor Domenic Sarno.
