Holyoke Mayor Demands Action From State Over Deaths Of Veterans

The death count has climbed to 13 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke, where a large scale coronavirus outbreak has taken place.

Six of those who died have tested positive for the virus, five more tests are pending, and one of those who died tested negative.

Seven staff members at the home for veterans have tested positive for coronavirus, and 25 residents are still waiting for test results to come back.

Meantime, State Representative John Velis, who is a member of the legislature's Veterans Committee says that there needs to be a complete report on what actually happened at the Soldiers' Home for the sake of the lives lost at the home.

Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse says he was told Sunday night of the issues and that the local crisis had been going on for days, before that call.
