Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno is applauding the efforts of the Springfield Business Community in a time of crisis, especially CRRC for their very generous donation of 10,000 KN95 masks to police, fire, and other front line personnel.
“As federal and state agencies had previously denied our city requests for N95/KN95 masks for our police officers, fire fighters, and front line providers, it’s so heartwarming that our business/private sector heard my clarion call for assistance by continuing to step up big time.” Mayor Sarno said.
In addition, MGM has donated cots to the triage tent city that is being utilized on Worthington Street to help the homeless. And, the city has also received donations of 400 N95 masks and 100 face shields from Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi for Police as well.
More masks were donated by Titeflex for public safety. The mayor says since he had to go public with the inability of the state and federal government to get the masks for public safety he has received more than 12 thousand masks from the business community.
And the mayor says that while he understands some of the frustration that is out there, he reminds residents that other countries tried to reopen their countries too quickly and that the virus re-emerged.
