Owners To Governor: Unlock Our Doors

A group of Republican state lawmakers are calling on Governor Charlie Baker to reopen the state economy immediately. Billerica Representative Marc Lombardo says it's time to reopen the state without delay. He says the current reopening plans offered by the governor are not fast enough and do not provide clarity to businesses.

Baker has announced a four phase reopening of the state economy, with the beginning focused on businesses that have limited contact with the public.

Massachusetts restaurant owners and staff are asking Governor Charlie Baker to let them partially reopen on May 19th. Around 100 restaurateurs, managers and staff have made their plea in a letter sent to the governor yesterday.

They also are asking Baker to allow restaurants to return to full service in the state June 18th. Baker has not yet indicated when he plans to allow restaurants to resume sit down dining.

In Springfield, the owner of the Red Rose Anthony Caputo says that to begin with they will do take-out but they too would like to reopen in totality as soon as they can. Whenever that happens they will be able to keep patrons safe as well.
