Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington is set to argue before the state Supreme Judicial Court today.
According to a statement from her office, Harrington will argue an appeal establishing pre-trial detention guidelines in light of the Massachusetts Trial Court's coronavirus-related suspension of jury trials.
The court must weigh a defendant's due process rights and also victim and public safety.
Harrington is urging the court to emphasize case-specific circumstances, local conditions and progression towards resuming jury trials, which are off until at least September 8th.
