The Athletic Director for the University of Massachusetts says they are working toward a college football season.
Ryan Bamford was on WHYN Tuesday morning saying many colleges and universities have been struggling with how to produce a season in a post pandemic era.
Bamford says that the school is taking precautions to keep players and staff safe. For the football team that means screenings and being separated from the rest of the college community. The AD says that he expects to bring the football team into campus in July.
Bamford says that schools are communicating with each other. In the case of UMass they are connected to the A-10 and there is a constant stream of communication with that conference. He says that all decisions that are being made are being done with the best interest of the student athlete in mind. Officially UMass is independent for the football season.
UMass opens up its 2020 football season on September 3rd when they visit the University of Connecticut.
