Baystate Medical Announces New Measures After Hospital COVID-19 Outbreak

Baystate Medical Center is outlining actions being taken to address a coronavirus outbreak there.

The hospital is creating additional break space for employees, imposing new travel restrictions and updating the discipline guidelines to include rules about mask-wearing and distancing.

It's believed that an employee who returned from a vacation to a "hot spot" area spread the virus in a break room.

Baystate has updated the outbreak numbers at the Springfield hospital: 40 cases total, including 26 employees and 14 patients.

Dr Mark Keroac says that they have treated more than a thousand people for Covid19 and up until this incident there were no issues with transmission.
