Holyoke City Councilor Wants Probe Of Mayoral Relationships

Holyoke City Councilor Mike Sullivan says he will ask the board to approve hiring outside counsel to investigate the conduct of Mayor Alex Morse, also a Democratic candidate for Congress.

This follows UMass-Amherst launching an investigation into allegations that Morse had inappropriate relationships while working there as a lecturer.

The College Democrats of Massachusetts sent a letter to Morse alleging he used his position of power for romantic or sexual gain.

Morse has said the relationships he had were consensual.

The request comes just hours prior to a critical debate between incumbent congressman Richard Neal and Morse.

Neal says he has nothing to do with the issue.

The debate is tonight.
