Congressman Richard Neal squared off in a debate Monday night against Democratic primary challenger and Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse.
The debate was hosted by WGBY-TV in Springfield.
The recent allegations of inappropriate sexual relationships against Morse did not dominate the debate, but did come up to start; Morse said this was a backroom, coordinated smear campaign by Neal supporters, while Neal said there is no room for homophobia and reiterated that neither he nor his campaign had any involvement.
Morse went after Neal for his status as top recipient of corporate PAC money in the House, while Neal criticized Morse's attendance record as Holyoke mayor for things like school committee meetings.
