Springfield City Councilors Make Move To State Level Politics

A couple of Springfield City Council members won Democratic primary races for seats in the state legislature on Tuesday.

Adam Gomez defeated incumbent Senator James Welch in the Hampden Senate District.

Gomez took 60 percent of the vote in defeating Welch who was seeking a fifth term.

Meantime, in the Ninth Hampden District where three people were running for the seat that the current State Rep Jose Tosado is retiring from, the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee, Orlando Ramos took 47 percent in the race.

There is no Republican on the ballot in November in either race.
