Western Mass Lawmakers Want Western Mass Judge On High Court Bench

Saying that it was “crucial to their constituents” 18 western Mass state lawmakers have written to the Governor asking him to name someone from Hampden,

Hampshire, Berkshire or Franklin County to the State Supreme Court. The Governor will have two names to place in nomination.

One replacing the late Chief Justice Ralph Gants.

The other for Associate Justice Barbara Lenk who will retire in December having reached the mandatory retirement age of 70.

The last time there was someone with ties to western Mass was Chief Justice Roderick Ireland and before that John Greaney of Westfield.
