Remote Learning Suspended In Springfield After IT Threat Discovered

The Springfield Mayor and School Superintendent cancelling school for the rest of the day because of a potential threat to the IT network dealing with remote learning. Mayor Dom Sarno says remote learning has been suspended at least for the rest of the day.

In a statement this afternoon the mayor says, “To ensure that the District can effectively mitigate the potential incident and restore access to all software and services as quickly as possible, school and remote learning activities are canceled for the remainder of today, Thursday, October 8th, 2020. It is anticipated that the risk will be cleared and resolved in the near future so that remote learning may continue.”

Neither the Mayor nor Superintendent Dan Warrick have explained the nature of the threat. Nor do they say how long “near future” is.

No other details have been released.
