Update On Proposed Biomass Project In Springfield

Springfield City Council members are requesting a cease-and-desist order from the city on a biomass energy project.

At-Large Councilor Jesse Lederman said it is the opinion of the twelve councilors behind the request that the building permit for the long-stalled project has expired.

Earlier this year, the Springfield building commissioner said the developer, Palmer Renewable Energy, was still in possession of a valid permit for the project on Page Boulevard in East Springfield.

One city councilor, Sean Curren did not sign the letter.

Councilors say that the health of citizens is a stake particularly those with underlying health issues.
