Report: Boston Mayor- Rhode Island Governor Headed To DC Positions

NBC Boston is reporting this afternoon that Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will be tapped as the Labor Secretary by President Elect Joe Biden. Walsh has not released a statement regarding the story and the President Elect has not made any Labor announcement, but Congressman Richard Neal has:

“I am thrilled to hear that Mayor Marty Walsh has been chosen for our new Labor Secretary. Throughout his career he has been a champion for worker’s rights and I am confident that he will succeed in this new position in the Biden Administration. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role,” Congressman Neal said.

That is not the only high profile official apparently on their way to DC. The same NBCBoston report says that Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo as Commerce Secretary. Raimondo has often downplayed her potential role in a Biden Administration. The Governor has not commented. She is still in isolation from her contact with a person who tested positive for Covid19. She is expected to meet with reporters Friday.
