Letter Makes Case For Teachers To Get Vaccine Faster

Holyoke School Committee member Devin Sheehan is among those asking that Governor Baker make teachers a higher priority to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

A letter signed by about 70 school board members including Sheehan, who is also running for Mayor in Holyoke, says students in urban and low-income school districts are being disproportionately impacted by the learning environment created by the virus.

In other coronavirus vaccine news in Western Massachusetts,

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno said during a pandemic briefing on Tuesday that the governor is soon expected to announce a mass vaccination site in the Springfield area.

And at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home, state officials said on Tuesday that veterans received their second doses of the vaccine.
