The city of Springfield is looking towards the future of development on Main Street in the area of MGM Springfield.
The City Council approved the first phase of a master plan for the corridor, worked on by the city and the casino.
The master plan states that MGM Springfield has not yet spurred "catalytic economic development" outside of the boundaries of the casino district since opening in 2018.
It calls for the extension of the casino's plaza to Main Street.
