Easton State Rep To Become Ambassador To Ireland

Easton state Representative Claire Cronin is being nominated by President Biden to be ambassador to Ireland. Biden yesterday named the second ranked Democrat in the Massachusetts House to the coveted position. Cronin was a major supporter and fund raiser for Biden as he ran for president last year. Cronin was elected to the legislature in 2012, and has been rumored to be a finalist for the ambassador post for weeks.

Springfield Congressman Richard Neal among the delegation congratulation the Ambassador to be.

“I am delighted that State Representative Claire Cronin has been nominated by President Biden to be the next United States Ambassador to Ireland. She made history by being the first woman to serve as Majority Leader in the Massachusetts Legislature, and once confirmed by the Senate, will play a significant in role in helping to strengthen the bonds between the United States and Ireland. This is an important posting and that is why I look forward to working closely with the Ambassador-Designate on a range of issues to reinforce and expand our unique transatlantic partnership,” said Congressman Neal.

Senate approval is needed and expected.
