Sarno Wants More Tools To Fight Crime In Springfield

Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno has testified before the Judiciary Committee on measures that would allow prosecutors to appeal low bails.

That issue has been a thorn in the side of the mayor and the city for some time.

Sarno often times miffed by the number of repeat offenders of serious crime in the city.

Beacon Hill Lawmakers have heard Sarno on the issue before.

The same bill has been filed in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

The Committee has not reported the measure out.

Sarno says the city continues to fight an uphill battle against crime- and the bail tool would allow prosecutors to level the playing field.
