Northampton Makes Offer For Church Property

The city of Northampton wants to buy a vacant church with the goal of turning it into a resource center for homeless people.

The city is offering about a half-million dollars for the St. John Cantius Church on Hawley Street.

But reports indicate the developer of the former church wants to demolish the property and build several high-end townhouses.
