The Omicron variant of coronavirus is continuing to surge in Massachusetts. State health statistics show there's an average of almost 55-hundred new cases every day. That number has more than doubled in the last month. As a result of the surge, more people are seeking added protection. Nearly 141-thousand booster shots have been administered statewide in the last week.
Meantime, the increase in cases has forced Chicopee Mayor to cancel Monday's Mayoral Reception/.. Officials say it is because of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the city. The swearing-in of Mayor John Vieau and other officials will go on as planned at Berchmans Hall at Elms College. However, all attendees at the ten a.m. ceremony will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
