Councilor Calls For Think Tank To Stop Gun Violence

A Springfield City Councilor is calling on all stakeholders to come to the table to form a plan to wipeout gun violence. Tracey Whitfield says the city needs a Think Tank to come up with real world solutions to gun violence.

“I call for real collaborative solutions, funding and support from our congressional leaders, the Governor, the Mayor’s Office, the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, state and local officials and other local agencies to supply housing, education and workforce development, mental health and trauma informed care, physical healthcare, food, transportation, childcare, job opportunities etc to those involved and most impacted by gun violence.” states City Councilor Whitfield

“In addition, we need to ensure the families, friends and communities most impacted by this issue have a seat at the table, their voices are heard, and their innovative ideas implemented. No decision should be made about us without us!” says Whitfield.

The Councilor says there is too much senseless violence leading to loss of life that is negatively affecting families throughout the city.
