Rhode Island Congressman David Cicilline spent part of the weekend with bi partisan lawmakers to get a look at the Poland Ukraine border as the fighting continues between Ukraine and Russia.
The United Nations says about a million refugees are trying to leave Ukraine.
The Congressman tweeting this weekend:
"We witnessed heartbreaking scenes of Ukrainians fleeing for their lives at the #Poland-#Ukraine border.
We also saw the noble humanitarian work of the Polish people, and met with #Lviv Governor Maksym Kozytskyy to discuss how the US can support these efforts."
He was last there about a year ago.
Meantime, Senator Ed Markey met virtually, along with others with the Ukrainian President seeking an end to the purchase of Russian oil.
Congress is expected to deal with that issue this week.
