Congress To Consider Legal Cannabis This Week

The House of Representatives could vote this week to end the federal ban on cannabis.

The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act, or MORE Act, is scheduled to go before the House Rules Committee today with a floor vote expected by the end of the week.  Worcester Democrat Jim McGovern is the Chairman of the Committee.

It would make legal cannabis businesses eligible for Small Business Administration loans and checking accounts.

It would also require federal courts to expunge prior cannabis convictions.

The House previously passed the bill in 2020 but it was never taken up by the Senate.
