Something else for the medical community to worry about.
The seasonal flu rate is rising in Massachusetts at a time of year when cases are usually declining.
The state Department of Health reports that confirmed cases of flu jumped 27-percent over the last week.
The severity of cases statewide is considered moderate overall.
However, the severity level in the western part of the state is considered high.
Meantime, the medical experts are predicting that the upcoming flu season will be worse than normal.
