Former School Superintendent Pleads Not Guilty In Federal Court

Former Chicopee Public Schools superintendent Lynn Clark was arraigned on two federal counts of lying to the FBI on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty.

Clark, who was fired by the Chicopee School Committee last week, is accused of misleading investigators about whether she sent anonymous text messages which interfered with the city's process of hiring a new police chief.

Clark is accused of extorting a police chief hopeful with whom she previously had a relationship.

That police chief candidate later dropped out of the running.

Attorney Joel Olanoff says he has now received some of the evidence the government has against his client. He says that the case will be difficult to prove since there is no video or audio evidence of the interviews that the former superintendent had with federal investigators.
