Goalie Scores A Goal As T-Birds Take Commanding Series Lead

The Springfield Thunderbirds defended home ice for the second straight night in a 6-2 win over Wilkes Barre.

Matthew Peca got the Thunderbirds off to a good start with a first period goal.

The two teams traded a pair of goals each in the second period before Springfield took control in the third period to ice the victory.

Springfield got goals from Nikita Alexandrov, Goaltender Joel Hofer, who scored into an empty net, and Luke Witkowski who also scored into an empty net.

The teams now move the series to Pennsylvania where game three is set for Sunday night and if necessary Monday night.
