Sick Building Needs Health Amount Of Cash According To State Reps

Springfield State Rep Carlos Gonzales and State Rep Jacob Oliveria are filing an amendment to an infrastructure bill- calling on the state to spend some 220 million dollars to build a new Roderick Ireland Courthouse. The lawmakers say it is clear that the building is sick and for the sake of those who work there and others, the state needs to provide a new state of the art structure.

“An unhealthy building impacts the public safety of the staff and the residents required to visit the Springfield Court House. It is in desperate need of repair. Pending further environmental studies, it may be concluded that a new courthouse is required in the downtown area of Springfield”, stated Representative González. “The Ireland Courthouse is a sick building. That is why I’m proud to partner with Rep. González to ensure there is funding available to site and build a new courthouse”, said Representative Oliveira.

It is unclear when the amendment or the underlying infrastructure bill will be heard in committee.
