Eateries Will Comply With New Rules But Need Delay

The Northampton City Council is calling another timeout when it comes to a new ordinance requiring eateries to use bio-degradable packaging.

It was first intended to get underway in January of this year but the pandemic was still an issue. So the implementation was delayed until July. But now with supply chain issues and higher that expected prices, the measure have been delayed again until the end of October.

Proponents say it is all about the keeping of the environment as healthy as possible.

Business owners say they will comply, but the pre-pandemic time table and the current events because of the inflation rates and the supply chain are forcing businesses to take a step back.
