Food, Gas Prices Drive Up Costs Of Backyard Picnics

Gas prices still high in the state and the nation this Fourth of July weekend.

The national average for a gallon of unleaded regular is $4.80 a gallon.

The Massachusetts average is $4.85 a gallon.

Gas prices are not the only thing that is high this long holiday weekend.

If you have done the shopping for that backyard cookout, you already know that it is costing you more.

The Farm Bureau reports that the average cost has increased by about 17 percent, this year over last.

The jump in prices fueled by inflation and gas prices.

Meat prices alone have jumped by ten percent.

The average cost of that summer cookout for ten people is almost 70 dollars.
