Police Say Woman Was Stabbed Fatally Over Her Car

A Northampton man accused of stabbing his roommate to death is being ordered held without bail.

Police have charged 24-year-old Devin Bryden with murder and motor vehicle larceny.

Prosecutors say Bryden killed his 21-year-old roommate, Jana Abromowitz, in their Hatfield Street apartment on Sunday night.

Bryden reportedly confessed to stabbing the young woman and stealing her car, telling police it was because he was about to become homeless.

Bryden will return to court for a pre-trial hearing next month.

Police meantime say they are still investigating.
